چکیده

Abstract Objective To more comprehensively evaluate the ability of parameters reflecting morphological and biomechanical properties cornea to distinguish clinical keratoconus (CKC) forme fruste (FFKC) from normal. Methods Normal eyes ( n = 50), CKC 45) FFKC 15) were analyzed using Pentacam, Corvis ST ORA. Stepwise logistic regression all was performed obtain optimal combination model capable distinguishing CKC, normal, named SLR1 SLR2, respectively. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves applied determine predictive accuracy two models, as described by area under curve (AUC). AUCs compared DeLong method. Results The included only TBI output while SLR2 parameter F.Ele.Th ST, HC DfA SP-A1. majority had sufficient strength differentiate normal corneas, even seven separate a discrimination efficiency 100%. moderate for FFKC, (0.965) presented an excellent AUC, followed TBI, BAD-D. Conclusion Pentacam most sensitive F.Ele.Th, SP-A1 made diagnosis efficient. CRF CH ORA did not improve combined diagnosis, despite corneal that optimized FFKC.

Topographic and tomographic properties of forme fruste keratoconus corneas.

PURPOSE To investigate the efficacy of topography and tomography indices combined in discriminant functions to detect mild ectatic corneas. METHODS The authors retrospectively reviewed the data of 143 eyes separated into three groups by the Corneal Navigator OPD scanning system (Nidek, Gamagori, Japan): normal (N; LASIK surgery with a 2-year follow-up; n = 72), forme fruste keratoconus (N top...

Screening of forme fruste keratoconus with the ocular response analyzer.

PURPOSE To evaluate the performance of the Ocular Response Analyzer (ORA) in the screening of forme fruste keratoconus (FFKc). METHODS A retrospective comparative study was conducted involving 180 eyes. ORA preoperative data were analyzed for 125 normal control eyes (64 patients) undergoing laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) without corneal ectasia after 24 months of follow-up and 55 case e...

Evaluation of total and corneal wavefront high order aberrations for the detection of forme fruste keratoconus.

PURPOSE To investigate the application of anterior corneal and ocular aberrations in detecting mildly ectatic corneas. METHODS This study retrospectively reviewed the data of 220 eyes separated into three groups by the NIDEK Corneal Navigator System automated corneal classification software: normal (N) (n = 123); forme fruste keratoconus (N topography with contralateral KC) (n = 34); and KC (...

Eye Rubbing as a Possible Cause of Clinical Progressive Keratoconus in a Forme Fruste Keratoconic Family

We report a case of a 21-year-old male patient who underwent corneal cross-linking (CXL) due to bilateral progressive keratoconus. Topographical screening of his family members was performed for the detection of possible familial keratoconus and showed abnormal topographical patterns resembling to Forme Fruste Keratoconus (FFK) in all the members of his family. The reported keratoconic patient ...

Biomechanical characterization of keratoconus corneas ex vivo with Brillouin microscopy.

PURPOSE Loss of corneal strength is a central feature of keratoconus progression. However, it is currently difficult to measure corneal mechanical changes noninvasively. The objective of this study is to evaluate if Brillouin optical microscopy can differentiate the mechanical properties of keratoconic corneas versus healthy corneas ex vivo. METHODS We obtained eight tissue samples from healt...
